The Optical Co deliver a completely new experience when visiting the opticians. Their highly personal service, stylish frames and relaxed atmosphere are guaranteed to impress. They opened their doors in February 2020 after seeing a gap in the market for an independent, boutique opticians in Cobham, Surrey.
The owners Sachin and Jeenal Nath are both optometrists and have worked in different sectors of the optical industry over the past 15 years. They have used this wealth of experience to create something special at The Optical Co.
‘As independent opticians we have the advantage of being able to set our own rules e.g., how much time we can spend with patients and what brands we stock, without any pressure from a head office. We treat all of our patients as individuals and have longer appointment times so we can really get to know their needs and expectations. It’s our unparalleled customer service that we are most proud of,’ says Jeenal.
Before opening the practice last year, Sachin spent time as a locum optometrist in Cobham and the surrounding areas, so he could really understand the demographics and get an idea of what the patients want and expect.
‘We believe we are the only true independent opticians in Cobham, as we don’t have several branches. Multiple opticians tend to stock the same frames in all of their practices as it is more cost effective for them. However, this makes it difficult for them to cater to different tastes as what is popular in one location may not be as well received in another. We work tirelessly to source exclusive frame collections from around the globe and we are proud be the only stockists in Surrey of prestigious brands Hublot and Maybach.’

Innovative Use of Technology
With eye conditions like macular degeneration and glaucoma becoming more and more prevalent in the UK, routine eye examinations are more important now than ever. The Optical Co. has invested in state of the art hospital grade equipment which is used during eye examinations. The OCT scanner (Optical Coherence Tomography) uses a non-invasive advanced imaging technique to give a 3D view of the retina. This allows early diagnosis of many sight threatening conditions.
